Fall 2006

Construction Continues at The Zangmeister Center
Andrews Architects recently completed design of a comprehensive cancer treatment center for Mid Ohio Oncology/Hematology, the largest cancer and blood disorder treatment medical practice in Central Ohio. The 110,000-square-foot, patient-centered facility offers a multitude of services that include a specialty pharmacy, 90-chair infusion services, expanded diagnostic imaging, radiation oncology facilitated by two linear accelerators, clinical offices and psychosocial services, as well as patient education and an educational library. Gilbane is serving as the construction manager and construction will be completed this summer.

Construction Underway for the J-West Addition at Children's Hospital
Andrews Architects partnered with FKP Architects of Houston, Texas for this major addition to Columbus Children’s Hospital. Construction is currently underway for the first phase of the hospital’s $1 billion master plan. The 95,000-square foot facility will house outpatient surgery, gastrointestinal center, behavioral health clinic, psychology clinic research space as well as administrative and public spaces. Andrews Architects is serving as the Associate Architect for the project supporting the design team in all aspects of the project from design development through construction administration. Turner Construction Company is the construction manager.

Ambulatory Surgical Center for Central Ohio Urology Group
Andrews Architects is currently designing a 6,500-square-foot accredited ambulatory surgical center and clinic for the Central Ohio Urology Group. Located on the third floor of the new Zangmeister Center, doctors will be able to perform cystoscopy, Class C surgical procedures, biopsies, ultrasounds and urodynamics. In addition to being accredited under the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF), the group will have access to the radiation oncology center within the existing facility.

A New Medical Building Near Dublin Methodist Hospital
With construction of the new Dublin Methodist Hospital only a year away from completion, medical offices are sprouting up nearby to accommodate physicians and patients. Andrews Architects is currently working with Bedrock Development Group to construct a new, 32,000-square-foot, two-story medical building. Andrews Architects' working knowledge and appreciation of Dublin's Master Plan and zoning codes enabled a more efficient planning process for this client.

Madison County Hospital Expands with New Facility
Construction recently completed the largest building project since Madison County Hospital opened in 1962. Located in London, Ohio, the 28,000-square-foot Park Avenue Medical Building provides much needed space for hospital’s outpatient services and individual physician offices. The two-story facility houses physical, occupational and speech therapy, wellness center, specialty imaging center and space for family practice physicians and specialists.

Sky Bank Opens Branch Bank in Bexley
Sky Bank identified the established urban community of Bexley as a key location for its growing operations in Central Ohio. The bank acquired a site that held a 1950s era gas station and redeveloped the facility into a freestanding full-service branch. The facility fell within the purview of the Main Street Redevelopment Commission – a community organization charged with returning the Bexley core to its urban character. Andrews Architects worked with Bexley development officials to complete a facility that met strict design requirements while meeting the needs of the bank. The interior of the branch meets Sky’s functional standards with private offices, safe deposit boxes and a teller line.

A New Welcome Center for the Boy Scouts of America
Located in Delaware, Ohio, Camp Lazarus is the hub of youth scouting activities and educational enrichment for the Boy Scout’s Simon Kenton Council. As such, the Council wanted to further its mission by building a welcome center to extend its commitment to its comprehensive scout program. As the new focal point of the Camp, the 5,000-square-foot facility boasts all the amenities of a full-fledged headquarters including a large conference room that can accommodate 50 people with sophisticated AV capabilities; a private residence that is available to temporarily house scout personnel; an office area for youth and staff camp check in; and a year-round trading post with scouting merchandise for sale.

Continued Personalized Service with Additional Staff
Andrews Architects has added two, new members to its team:

Bob Bevilacqua, AIA joins Andrews Architects as Project Architect for our healthcare and commercial design studios. He is currently managing our work at Columbus Children's Hospital and Grant Medical Center. Bob is a Registered Architect and obtained his education from The Ohio State University. He also volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life which introduces architecture to high school students.

Stacy Williams, LEED AP joins us as a Project Coordinator. Focusing on the healthcare and commercial studios, Stacy will work directly with the Project Architect in managing research and design in all project phases. As a LEED-Accredited Professional, Stacy is currently working on Columbus’ first LEED-certified home through a special pilot program. Stacy obtained her master’s degree in architecture from the University of Illinois.

McConnell Heart Health Center Opens New Spine, Sport and Joint Center
Construction is complete on the expansion of the McConnell Heart Health Center. The project includes a 26,000-square-foot addition and remodeling of existing facility. The Spine, Sport and Joint Center creates additional space for the musculoskeletal clinic that was necessitated by increased patient volumes. It also includes the addition of a second warm water therapy pool, fitness studios, conversion of half of the existing gymnasium for physical therapy and sports medicine, as well as incorporates new technologies such as a fluoroscopy room and digital X-ray. KPRS O'Brien served as the general contractor.

2nd Floor Surgical Renovation at Riverside Methodist Hospital
Based on its extensive experience in surgical design, Andrews Architects was recently selected to renovate three, existing operating rooms on the 2nd floor at Riverside Methodist Hospital to create an endovascular operating room including advanced imaging functions; an oversized, “mega” operating room intended to handle large surgical teams; and associated equipment support rooms.

Samaritan Regional Health System Medical Office Building Under Construction
Located in Ashland, Ohio, the 42,000-square-foot, two-story medical office building will include a women’s center; ear, nose and throat specialists’ office; general surgeon; urologist; ophthalmology; and a cardiac testing/nuclear medicine office. Simonson Construction is the general contractor.

Design Underway for Mixed-Use Development in Dayton
Andrews Architects is working with a prominent Dayton area developer to create a themed, mixed-use subdivision including single family homes, condominiums and a neighborhood town center.

Three Additional Locations Planned for Sky Bank
Based on the success of the Sky Bank branch in Powell, Andrews Architects was selected to design three additional locations for the banking institution. The new branches for Sky Bank will be located in Pickerington, Canal Winchester and Bexley.

Design and Construction Complete for the Villas of Catawba Bay
Designed with the quality and convenience in mind, construction was recently completed for three, single-family homes on Catawba Bay Island. Spacious floor plans, optional bedrooms and coastal exteriors provide owners with all the essentials of Lake Erie living. The villas were constructed utilizing Unibilt Homes' award-winning modular building system process to expedite the overall schedule. The project was developed by Andrews Development Company.

Hilliard Station Retail Center Nearing Completion
Andrews Architects provided design services to Equity Real Estate for Hilliard Station Retail Center located along the fast-growing Hilliard-Rome Road corridor in southern Hilliard. The project includes a 60,000-square-foot retail center to be anchored by two full-service restaurants.

Cardinal Orthopaedics to Build Consolidated Office Building
Andrews Architects completed design of a 24,000-square-foot facility located in the fast-growing Truman Boulevard area in Hilliard. The new facility will replace and consolidate several locations that the orthopedics practice currently occupies throughout western Franklin County, and will include an urgent care and physical therapy office operated by Mount Carmel Health System.

Construction for Dublin Methodist Hospital Continues
Andrews Architects teamed with Karlsberger Companies and MSI Design to design the 100-bed Dublin Methodist Hospital. Bringing zoning and master planning experience to the team, Andrews Architects led the efforts to rezone the hospital’s 84-acre property to create a unique hospital zoning district that responds to the city’s strict zoning regulations while providing a flexible framework for hospital expansion and growth. Doctors Hospital Projects Finish On Time and On Budget
Several projects are now complete at Doctors Hospital. The in-patient physical therapy unit was relocated from the sixth floor to the fifth floor. The move enabled a medical/surgery unit to be added to the 6th floor – now called McConnell Heart Care. Messer Construction served as the construction manager.

Work Continues on Branch for Telhio Credit Union
Construction is in progress for a drive-thru branch for the Telhio Credit Union. The new branch is located at the revitalized Northland Park mixed-use development in Columbus. This building, including Andrews Architects design, is to be expanded in the future, will serve as a prototype for all of Telhio's future branches, and reflects the organization’s branding efforts.

Construction of New Albany Condominiums Continues Design is complete and construction is underway at the Glenabby condominium development near New Albany. Comprised of 64 units, the community offers two-story condominiums with nine-foot ceilings on the first floor, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, sunroom and two-car attached garage.

Al Caswell, Director of Construction Services

With over 30 years experience in construction, finance, management and development, Alan Caswell brings a wealth of expertise in overseeing the bidding and construction administration of all projects at Andrews Architects.

Lindsay Andrews, Director of Marketing

Lindsay Andrews has over five years of marketing and business development experience in working for a national construction management company. With a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism, Lindsay will direct the sales and marketing efforts for the firm.

Andrews Architects Expands Offices
To accommodate their growing practice, Andrews Architects expanded their offices. The expansion provides for the continued growth of the interior design and architectural studios.

New Lima Homes Complete
Designed to meet narrow lot requirements, the New Lima development features four bedroom, two bathroom ranch and two-story homes some with detached and others with attached garages. Andrews Architects provided a variety of elevation options and exterior features while adhering to the same floor plan to create an efficient design. This urban infill project provided affordable housing opportunities for the Lima, Ohio community. Meeting the owner’s requirements for an energy efficient solution, Andrews Architects' design enabled the homes to have an Energy Star rating. Construction on the 45-unit single-family home development is complete.

Construction Complete on Cosgray Road Retail Center
Andrews Architects designed an 11,000-square-foot neighborhood retail center located within the Hoffman Farms subdivision in Hilliard. Bringing much needed services to the neighborhoods on the west side of Hilliard, the center includes a neighborhood gathering place restaurant, dry cleaner and more. Construction is complete on the facility.

Construction Complete on Riverside Behavioral Health Unit
With the design by Andrews Architects, construction is complete for the relocation of the Doctors Hospital Behavioral Health unit to the Riverside Methodist Hospital campus. The relocation required renovation of approximately 12,000 square feet on the ninth floor of Riverside Hospital. Located on the same floor as the existing unit that Andrews Architects designed in 2000, the renovated space acts as a separate secure facility.

OhioHealth Rehabilitation Center in Upper Arlington Open
Construction is complete on this 10,000-square-foot facility that accommodates neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation. The designers had the opportunity to create a functional environment that simulates a home including a house façade with a front porch, a small apartment and a garage with an overhead door. In addition, there are 12 physical therapists, two neuropsychologists, and two speech therapists (including a pediatrics specialist) on staff.

Condominiums Added to Catawba Bay Development
Built on the shores of Lake Erie, the Catawba Bay Residential Development has completed single-family residences and condominiums. With a waterfront view for most homes and amenities that include an on-site marina, Andrews Architects designed the community in the New England Shingle Style featuring cedar shake siding, white trim and porches to fit within its waterfront setting.


Spring 2005

Eastpointe Family Practice Complete
Located in the Reynoldsburg area, Andrews Architects has completed the design for a 4,500-square-foot family practice. Home to a four physician practice, the facility includes 12 exam rooms, shared waiting room, lab and procedure room. The project was recently completed and is now open for business.

Mid-Ohio Cardiology and Vascular Consultants Adds Imaging Services
One of Central Ohio’s leading cardiology practices, Mid-Ohio Cardiology and Vascular Consultants is expanding the already substantial advanced imaging services at their growing practice. Facilities have been expanded to accommodate additional imaging modalities including a PET scan, CT-Scan, and MRI. To make room for these services, Mid-Ohio has selected Andrews Architects to expand and renovate their existing facility. The new facilities are now open and serving patients.

Phases I, II and III Complete at Willow Brook
Andrews Architects' team of interior designers recently completed Phases I, II and III of the renovation and expansion of Willow Brook Christian Home’s current facility. With the assisted living portion complete, Willow Brook now offers 26 private rooms for their assisted living residents. Our design team has worked hard to provide the residents with a warm, comfortable environment. Once the project is completed this summer, the facility will offer two restaurants, two activity rooms, several gathering areas and a beauty salon.

Sleep Lab for Riverside Methodist Hospital Complete
Construction is now complete on the Sleep Lab at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Andrews Architects was responsible for the design and worked closely with the contractor to ensure that the owner’s requirements were met. This project had a very strict and tight construction schedule – three months from the first meeting to construction completion.

Winter 2005

Work on Advanced Dermatology and Medical Hair Restoration Clinic Complete
Construction was recently completed on the 4,500-square-foot Advanced Dermatology and Medical Hair Restoration Clinic in Dublin that was designed by Andrews Architects. The facility combines two clinics under one roof and offers the latest medical technologies for both practices. Although they share a common waiting room, each clinic has separate treatment rooms. The Medical Hair Restoration Clinic offers three treatment rooms and Advanced Dermatology’s space includes two treatment rooms.

International Diamond and Gold in Dublin Now Open
Now open for business, construction was recently completed on the International Diamond and Gold store located on the corner of State Route 161 and Sawmill Road. The neighborhood jewelry store was open in time for the busy holiday shopping season.

Construction Complete for Phase II of Autumn Woods
Bringing energy efficient and affordable housing to Toledo, Ohio, Phase II of Autumn Woods was recently completed. The single-family development added 37 stick-built homes to the existing Phase I of 48 homes also designed by Andrews Architects and built by MV Communities. The community is comprised of two-story and ranch homes.

Fall 2004

Delaware Place Featured in Victorian Village House and Garden Tour
Both a single-family home and a townhouse condominium in the Delaware Place development were selected as stops on the Victorian Village House and Garden Tour. The event took place on Sunday, Sept. 26 and was deemed a success by all who attended. Designed by Andrews Architects, Delaware Place is comprised of six new single-family homes and 18 townhouse condominiums. Construction was recently completed on this project.

Construction Complete on Sky Bank in Powell
Now open for business, construction was recently completed on the 2,050 square foot Sky Bank branch. The facility will provide residents of the Powell community with a new full-service banking option. Andrews Architects provided a complete package of architecture, interior design, and site planning services. As a model for future planned Sky Bank branches that will be constructed throughout Central Ohio, design and construction of the facility was completed in less than six months.

Chatham Crossing Construction Complete
Located just outside Springfield, Illinois, construction on the Chatham Crossing apartment community was recently completed. Featuring 110 market-rate units on 10.7 acres, this two-phase project includes a mix of one, two and three bedroom units, as well as duplex condominiums.

Summer 2004

Construction Complete on Doctors West Hospital
Construction is now complete on the Doctors West Hospital renovation project. The project included renovation of existing surgery suites, as well as the addition of three new surgery suites, including pre-op, post-anesthetic care unit (PACU), outpatient recovery, and staff lounges.

Spring 2004

Fayette County Memorial Hospital's Medical Office Building Now Open
Designed to serve the growing needs of the area, Fayette County Memorial Hospital's new Medical Office Building is now serving patients. In addition to the building itself, Andrews Architects designed a wide range of professional medical suites to include business health, dialysis, timeshare, home health, urgent care, family practice, pediatrics, general surgery and a high-tech conference center. After an accelerated construction effort, this project opened in early January on schedule and within budget.

Delaware Place Wins City of Columbus Award
Located in the heart of Victorian Village, north of downtown Columbus, Delaware Place is a prime example of redevelopment in a popular urban setting. Andrews Architects designed six new single-family homes and 18 townhouse condominiums to blend into the architecturally-appealing Victorian neighborhood. Spacious interiors reflect modern comforts and conveniences. Delaware Place was selected for the City of Columbus Office of Historic Preservation and the Victorian Village Commission's Certificate of Excellence and Outstanding New Construction Award for 2003.
