The Mark H. Zangmeister Center Completion
Cancer care in Central Ohio has been revolutionized - all because of a new comprehensive facility that offers a convenient location, nurturing settings and one-stop services for its patients. The newly-opened Zangmeister Center offers everything it promised from initial conception: To provide outstanding patient care.
Mid Ohio Oncology/Hematology's (MOOH) vision was clear from the start - to keep patients at the forefront of design. Andrews Architects collaborated with administration, physicians and staff to meld the business and clinical functions of a four-location practice into one facility.
Embarking on a sizable facility where the nature of a patient's visit is very personal and intimate posed as a significant design challenge. The key to all of this is to make sure the patients don't feel overwhelmed by the scale of the center," says Bill Andrews, President. "Once you enter the building, you want to break the building down into smaller spaces." The design maximizes the efficiency for patients and staff by creating a layout that flows in a way that each medical department has its own treatment area and equipment thereby reducing patient travel distances.
From the patient perspective, each infusion treatment area is surrounded by views of nature to create positive focal points during care. Interior lobbies include live plants, aquariums and water features to help ease patient and family anxieties. Natural light and the use of warm, soothing colors also contribute to the healing environment.
The Zangmeister Center provides an array of services and treatments including physician clinic, chemotherapy treatment, infusion services, radiation therapy, diagnostic imaging, clinical laboratory services, cancer research and trials, specialty pharmacy, gynecological oncology and wellness services.
ICU Revitalization at Madison County Hospital
Renovations were recently completed on Madison County Hospital's 13-room, 5,570-square-foot Intensive Care Unit. The hospital's goals for the project were to provide a comfortable environment for patients and family, while improving the level of care to the community. Andrews Architects worked within the existing layout of the unit to provide a convenient central work area, while allowing access and views to all patient rooms. Working as a team with Elford from the beginning allowed for continual cost analysis, keeping the project within budget and on schedule.
A New Medical Office Building at Doctors Hospital
Broadening services in West Columbus, Doctors Hospital enlisted Andrews Architects to create a cost-effective, development-focused medical office building on its campus. Andrews exhibited extensive knowledge in shell and tenant costs, which proved vital during the early planning process. In creating the 19,000-square-foot facility's design, Andrews Architects relied on its experience with neighborhood retail centers to incorporate easy access points for patients and separate signage for tenants. OhioHealth recently broke ground for the new facility with Equity serving as the contractor.
Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute Opens Hilliard Office
The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute, the largest ortho-specialty practice in Central Ohio, recently opened the doors to its new Hilliard facility at Mill Run. As one of the practice's flagship locations, the facility features 16 exam rooms, four cast rooms and two X-ray suites available to its nine physicians. With more spacious accommodations and state-of-the-art technology, patients will benefit from the comfortable environment and improved accessibility. This 25,000-square-foot facility also houses and urgent care center and rehabilitation facility for Mount Carmel Health System. Equity served as the contractor.
Retail Growth in Pickerington
This community retail and entertainment center will encompass over 50,000 square feet of space, as well as three out-parcels. The complex site is surrounded by public roads on three sides offering outstanding visibility but requiring four-sided architecture since the public will approach the center from several directions. Andrews Architects worked with the Owner and City officials to rezone the property creating a new planned commercial district (PCD) with uniform parking ratios. The DiCesare Company is the contractor.
Dining Facility for Boy Scouts of America
In continuing its long-term relationship with the Boy Scouts of America, Andrews Architects designed a new dining hall at Chief Logan Reservation for the Simon Kenton Council. Sitting in the foothills of Southern Ohio, the new facility will house up to 400 scouts during the camp season and includes a commercial grade kitchen, scenic porch and communal fireplace. Andrews Architects is working with local contractor, Wilson Construction on this facility.
City Gate Development
Andrews Architects is providing architectural services for a neighborhood retail center in Marysville totaling approximately 17,000 square feet. The retail shoppes will be situated on a 2-acre site facing the well-traveled U.S. Route 36. Andrews Architects utilized City Gate's newly developed design standards to reflect the traditions of Marysville's architecture and respect the context of the community. In addition to this project, Andrews Architects is designing two medical office buildings totaling 53,000 square feet on the mixed-use site with Thomas & Marker Construction Company.
